 Re: Cube Console
Wow it looks like we made a huge improvement overnight! Now we're only missing the Orbit and the Extinction puzzle...
If Braille writing is a hint, I thought that: -fortune tellers\divinators... according to tradition are blind -if it involves Braille asteroid revolving around Mars, the orbit of Mars hosts two natural satellites in its orbit: Deimos and Phobos, both sons of Ares and Aphrodite according to greek mythology.

 Re: Cube Console
Something I didn't see mentioned (but may have missed) is that the ORBITS puzzle has a little green circle on the right in the center. It could be a hole for hanging it on something, or something else. But it looks like it has a purpose, whatever it is.

 Re: Cube Console
Woo! We're at 5/6 now—ORBITS has fallen! So if you draw circles from the center like so: http://mappity.googlepages.com/circles.jpgYou see that the dots land on circles with radii in multiples of thirty pixels—the blue circle has radius 180, the red 300, etc. So I labeled them all here: http://mappity.googlepages.com/xthirty.jpgWhere each number is how many multiples of thirty away from the center they are. So "4" is 120 pixels away, "5" is 150, etc. Well! A little trial and error helped me figure out that if you set A=2, B=3, ... you get: http://mappity.googlepages.com/lettersinorbit.jpgReading from East going clockwise you get: WORLDSNLARGESTNWHITEΩMOUNTAIN (where Ω is 28 which isn't a letter) That's something like "world's largest white mountain" which is, of course, Mauna Kea. By the way, had I not gotten that, I would have been upset. That's like just one island over. I could have taken a ferry there a month or two ago, until they shut the thing down.

 Re: Cube Console
great work!!
I am going to speculate widely about what I think the cube is. It definitely spans outside of our current technological abilities, so it will sound kinda loony I suppose.
My hypothesis is that the cube is traveling backwards in time. As each day passes, the cube grows younger. There are experiments where scientists are dealing with sub-atomic particles and time.... so, in the future, this kind of device playing with physics might be possible.
It is possible that it is an AI designed in 2169 with technology that allows it to age backwards (versus forwards) in order to send us a message on how to avoid doomsday.
It seems to want to interact with us by somehow helping it speak/communicate. I'd like to see what it can do connected to the internet.

I still think the most interesting commands are "woman" and "email"

 Re: Cube Console
Wow I can't believe how much I've missed! I caught a cold over the weekend and haven't checked the forums so I'm squeezing a peek during lunch. How do you all know all this stuff? What tool are you all using to decode the pages? I can't wait to get home from work tonight and try this.
I wonder if B has seen Mapmaker's posts? When I called on Saturday he was muttering something about orbits.
Jeromy, your hypothesis is scaring me a little. All those commands too. I have no idea what is going on here.

I'm sorry. My hypothesis is silly. Just a playful joke.

 Re: Cube Console
Yeah. I've been keeping up. Sorry about the lack of content. I've been a bit busy working on these puzzles while doing a bit of maintenance here and there on the interface. I solved a few of them pretty quickly. So, I'm not sure we need the help here, but it's good to see our applicants for the company are up to snuff on their deductive reasoning.
Yeah. I noticed those commands. Bertram doesn't seem so crazy with his "conspiracy theories" NOW, does he?
Anyway, I'm doing a bit of research here and there trying to determine this thing's exact origin. You should be doing the same. We don't know what this thing is.
Anyway, I'm done with the puzzles for now. I'm going to go mess around with the interface for a while and see if I can't find anything else suspicious.
