Post subject:  Cube Console

I’ve been working all night to make this happen. We now have what I call the “Cube Console” on the EI2 website. The technical magic which makes this possible is the cobbled together serial/USB cable connected to a modern computer (one with a real network interface on it), and some custom software of my creation.

You should be able to experience what Cray and I do when sitting in front of the Mac Classic. I hope it holds up - it isn’t exactly a piece of software engineering artwork.

With that out of the way (and some food/ sleep), I’ll join the crowd examining the strange files. I see that a group on the forums made sense of the random character dump – glad I didn’t have to do it. I guess Cray was right to post it here for the world to see (even though I am very much not thrilled with this amount of exposure on the internet).

Extinction of mankind? I knew this would lead to doom - no one listens to me. The link for this is in the purple bar above.

Ok I'm gonna write down some stuff I found out:
leaving address\code aside

there's a nice "help" command:
> help
HELP
GRID
PAGE #
SOLVE #
BYE

when I write "grid" it gives me a grid with 3 dots: a6, b5, f3
[edit: dots are different depending on address\code]

"page" ... when you write "page a6" (example) another text-image is printed!
if you write like "page b6" (was not on the grid) it says "b6 is not open".
So we might wanna figure out what those images are about.
[edit: different dots=different text -> several images or a big one? in the latter case we have 36 parts to merge...]

Solve command is creepy...
> solve b5
SPHASO WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION FOR b5? _
> c2
INVALID ANSWER...
(everything you write from here is considered an answer, until...)
INVALID ANSWER...
3 ATTEMPTS - ABORTING SOLVE

Bye command simply reboots.

yeah sorry don't have much time, the english on this is terrible I know.

Each 3 grid nodes unlocked are different for each person. We should team up to get each row unlocked, as it seems to be pages of some sort of packet or manifesto.

I registered with both of my emails, and I have C6, D2, and E2 under one email, and A4, C6, and E2 under another.

This is a great idea, but I think we should also try to figure out the algorithm that rules the grid... maybe this is what the "solve" command is all about.

I also noticed there's a connection between address and code, I tried different codes with the same address and it looks like the longer the address the more possibilities of code you have.

I tried:
a@a.a code: bye (all the other codes I tried don't work, so for the rest)
grid: a6,b6,c4

b@a.a code: bye
grid: b1,b6,e6

a@b.a code: bye
grid: d1,d3,e4

a@b.b code: bye
grid: c4,c6,f1

and so forth...
I can't see any pattern, the only thing that comes to my mind is that there are 3 parts in the address format (first@second.third) and 3 spots on the grid...

aaaargh!

I kept thinking I was doing the decoing wrong, but those small code segements are only a small section of the picture. Each square in the grid is its own picture. For example, for square A1 you have to type page a1.1 , page a1.2 ... to page a1.8 and copy each part to get the full picture for each square.

Nice job! I gathered yours and got some on my own in the attached rar.
Until now we have:

a1, a6
b1, b2, b4, b5, b6
c2, c4, c6
d1
e1, e2, e4, e6

some (most?) are just the same image on different grid-spots tho...

Perhaps to solve we only need to match the identical pictures...]

It seams we are working with six sets of pictures

F1 is also the mosaic pic, and d4 is the extinction one.

Are you sure f1 is Mosaic I thought it was PHI
