Talked to Mother
Some questions raised about my mother have been nagging at me lately. Why did she want us to sell out? What does she know about the cube? Can she find my father? The more I thought about these, the more I thought those asking the questions might be right – she must know something. Anything at all. So I called her. She said she doesn’t know how to find my father, but she knew about the cube the whole time. It turns out, she pushed us into taking the company deal because she hoped the company would take the cube away from us.
Long story short, the cube caused my parents to split up. And get this – she swears it will “ruin our lives like it ruined his.” She said it consumed him. After seeing what Bertram went through earlier I was a little concerned, but we talked and he brought up a great point: Dad was working alone.
So thanks to all of you for keeping us on task, for finding answers we never would have seen and for making sure we get to the bottom of all of this.

So many questions.
Can you tell us more about the conversation? How did your mom feel? Who left who? Did she tell dad to get out, or did he just leave? What is it about the cube that caused them to split up? Was he working on it all the time? Mine your mother for all the information you can. She is the only person we know who has had a relationship with the cube?
As far as your dad is concerned, he must have found this site and contacted you.

Yes, now I see that I could have spoken to her sooner. It’s always been just the two of us and I’ve never had a reason not to trust her.
The conversation in a nutshell: She did everything she could to avoid telling me about my father’s obsession. Of course, that made me feel really guilty about asking until she finally told me the truth. She said Dad ran off to follow some lead on what she called “his one true love.” He didn’t come back, she couldn’t find him and she eventually moved on. This happened after a couple of years of distancing himself from the family and spending every moment trying to figure out what the cube was about.
As for her relationship with the cube, I didn’t ask – it was a pretty emotional talk – but I got the impression she didn’t actually work on it. She seemed more resentful of it than anything.
